THE “GOLDEN HERITAGE” SERIES OF HISTORICAL VARIETIES
From the extensive genetic bank of varieties, preserved for many decades by the Černý family, we are bringing back to the market four historical petunia varieties.

These are original non-hybrid varieties cultivated before World War II and later, in the period before the first F1 hybrids were developed. Their characteristics, which some would consider rare from today's point of view, will undoubtedly attract the attention of all flower growers. They will enrich the current product ranges with interesting types of plants which go above and beyond the standards set today.

PETUNIA HYBRIDA MULTIFLORA NANA

E1351 Rosa Bonheur
A dark pink multiflora which produces 50% double flowers reminiscent
of carnations and 50% single flowers with an eye-catching yellow throat. The flowers have a diameter of 5.5-6.0 cm. Plants are wellbranched
and 35-40 cm tall. They are suitable for planting both in containers and in beds.

PETUNIA HYBRIDA GRANDIFLORA FIMBRIATA NANA

E1352 White Double
A snow-white grandiflora, producing intensely fringed flowers which are 50% double and 50% single. These flowers catch the eye at first glance with their yellow throat which, together with the white colour, gives the flowers an attractive contrast. The flowers have a diameter of 6.5-7.0 cm, the plants are well-branched and 35-40 cm tall. They are suitable for planting both in containers and in beds.

E1353 Peace
The first post-war variety, introduced in 1947 and subsequently modified to its present form. The name of the variety evokes a celebration of the peace. A light pink grandiflora with a silvery edge and less prominent veining, with flowers which are 50% double and 50% single. The flowers have a diameter of 6.5-7.0 cm, the plants are well-branched and 30-35 cm tall. They are suitable for planting both in containers and in beds.

E1354 Purple Dwarf
František Černý (the great-grandfather of the current owners) started breeding in 1948 and only after eleven long years, in 1959, did he introduce onto the market the then unprecedented purple-red petunia, which produces 50% double and 50% single flowers. We are now once again offering this variety for sale in a modified form. The flowers have a diameter of 5.5-7.0 cm, the plants are moderately densely branched with a height of 40-45 cm. This variety is ideally suited for planting both in containers and in beds.

From František Černý's book “Gardeners”:

The last plant in the group of low double-flowered petunias was the Peace variety. The breeding of this variety lasted from 1938 until 1947, when it was introduced onto the market. We were particularly fond of it throughout the breeding process. It was a child of war, and that is why it was given the name Peace, which was so often on our minds as we worked. It was obtained by selecting a lighter and less frayed deviation of the Pink Dwarf (Růžový zákrsek) variety. The result of constant selection are flowers that are silvery pink at the edges.
